Privacy Policy

Scope
This Privacy Policy covers gamiant.com, bodesgalaxy.com, and any other websites, games, or services operated by Gamiant, LLC ("we", "us", "our"). It is the canonical privacy policy for the studio; product-specific policies (e.g. PostTile, Quilt Designer) supplement this policy and never supersede it.
What We Collect
From the contact form
When you submit a message through the contact form on gamiant.com, we receive your name, email address, subject, and message body. Submissions are processed by Web3Forms, which forwards them to our inbox.
From your visit
Our hosting provider (Firebase Hosting / Google Cloud) generates server logs that include your IP address, user-agent string, pages requested, and timestamps. These are used to maintain service health and detect abuse. We do not run client-side analytics platforms (no Google Analytics, no tracking pixels, no third-party advertising SDKs).
From embedded media
The trailer on bodesgalaxy.com uses YouTube's privacy-enhanced embed mode (youtube-nocookie.com). No data is sent to YouTube or Google until you actively press play. Once you press play, YouTube's own privacy policy applies.
From Bode's Galaxy (after launch)
When Bode's Galaxy launches, playing it will require a Gamiant account (display name, email, password hash). The game will store gameplay state (ship loadout, cargo, travel history, in-game purchases, chat messages, and similar) on a SpacetimeDB backend we operate. This data is necessary to provide the persistent multiplayer experience.
How We Use Your Data
- To respond to inquiries you send us
- To operate and improve the websites and games
- To detect and prevent abuse, cheating, or fraud
- To send essential service notices (security alerts, account changes) — we do not send marketing without your consent
Who We Share It With
We do not sell or rent your data. We share it only with the service providers we need to operate:
- Firebase Hosting (Google) — serves our websites; receives server-log data
- Web3Forms — processes contact-form submissions
- YouTube (Google) — only if you choose to play the embedded trailer
- Storefronts (Steam, Google Play, Apple App Store) — once Bode's Galaxy launches, these process your purchases and download data under their own policies
- Law enforcement — when legally required by a valid order
Cookies and Tracking
gamiant.com and bodesgalaxy.com do not set any first-party tracking cookies and do not use cross-site tracking. Some technical cookies may be set by our hosting provider for security purposes. Third-party embedded content (YouTube) only sets cookies if you interact with it.
Data Retention
Contact-form messages are retained for up to two years to allow follow-up. Game account data is retained as long as your account is active; if you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days except where retention is required by law (financial records, abuse evidence).
Your Rights
You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to specific uses. We honor rights granted by the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including residents of those jurisdictions and others where similar laws apply. To exercise these rights, email privacy@gamiant.com; we will respond within 30 days.
Children's Privacy
Our services are not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children below those ages. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
International Data Transfers
Our service providers may process data in the United States or other countries. By using our services you consent to your data being processed in those countries; we rely on appropriate transfer mechanisms (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) where required.
Security
We use industry-standard measures (HTTPS, password hashing, access controls) to protect your data, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security. If we discover a breach affecting your data, we will notify you promptly as required by law.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the effective date above and, for material changes, post a notice on the gamiant.com homepage and/or notify account holders by email.
